Budgerigar Judge
Barry Skinner Barry began breeding Border and Roller Canaries as a junior in the early 1960's in Ashford, Kent, England. Budgerigars were bred at that time colony style to pay for the seed for the Canaries. Since then he has played with many different varieties of cage birds but has entered his retirement years concentrating on his beloved Budgerigars.
After immigrating to Ontario in 1974, Barry returned to the hobby and started breeding Budgerigars in 1979. By 1983 he was well and truly hooked, exhibiting his first bird on April 8th 1984, a young Grey Green Dominant Pied that took 3rd best novice at the Hamilton and District Nest Feather Show.
Barry attained his judging certificate after completing the "Central Canadian Judges Panel's training program" and since then he has judged all over Southern Ontario beginning back in 1990. He has also had the pleasure of judging and meeting fellow exhibitors in British Columbia and Alberta. In 2003 he was honored to have judged the Budgerigar Association of America's Grand National show in Atlanta. Not only is Barry on the World Budgerigar Associations Judges panel he is Canada's Eastern representative, unfortunately a task that he openly admits that he is only able to act as a communicator of information only.
Barry has enjoyed many "Best In Show" awards but this pleasure is only secondary to his love of company in the bird room, lucky for Barry he has a very supporting wife in Jacqueline who will be seen accompanying him on many out of town shows.
Barry looks forward to meeting more Budgerigar fanciers both at home and away.
